This page contains instructions on how to download the PC game Age of Wushu and provides troubleshooting tips for the game launcher.
System Requirements[]
The following are the official system requirements for Age of Wushu. Note that these specifications have not been updated since the game's initial release in 2013. However, the HDD Space requirement reflects the game's current size based on the latest update.
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
---|---|---|
Intel CPU | Pentium 4 2.4GHz | Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz |
AMD CPU | Athlon XP 1700+ | Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ |
Nvidia Graphics Card | GeForce 6600 GT 256MB | GeForce 9600 GT 512MB |
VRAM | 128 MB | 512 MB |
RAM | 1 GB | 2 GB |
HDD Space | 30 GB (+25 GB installation files) |
In October 2024, the game transitioned to a 64-bit client, which enhances memory usage and overall performance. This update allows the game to utilize more than 4GB of RAM, reducing crashes and improving stability, especially in graphically intensive areas.
Game Performance[]
- The game's FPS (Frames Per Second) is capped at 60.
- The player's FPS, net time-lapse, and server lag can be checked in-game by hovering over the dot next to the minimap.
- Some video settings will automatically toggle off when the user's FPS is too low.
- Players who wish to multi-client can run up to three game clients simultaneously. Any attempt to open more than three will not launch.
- At ultra-high video settings, the game employs advanced dynamic lighting and enhanced shadow effects to create realistic outdoor scenes. However, these same effects can cause underground environments to become overly dark, rendering them nearly pitch black. Switching to medium video settings reduces the intensity of these lighting effects, which in turn brightens cave areas to more acceptable levels.
- The game server is located in Dallas, Texas.
Download for Windows[]

Installation files.
- Download the "data1_9yinna_Setup.exe" file and all the CAB files from the official website's download page: http://www.ageofwushu.com/down.html. It is not necessary to download the MD5 file, but it can be used to check the CAB files for corruption.
- Run "data1_9yinna_Setup.exe":
The first screen of the setup process is untranslated and will display question marks if the system locale is not set to Simplified Chinese. However, changing the system locale to Chinese is not required. Once the installation path is selected and the "Install" button is clicked, the remainder of the installation wizard is presented in English.
- Run "fxlaunch.exe" and wait for the patch to download. After the patch is downloaded, the client may need to be restarted to start the game.
- You should now be able to play on the only available server: Blue Dragon. If you haven't created an account yet, go to Snail Games USA's official registration website at http://member.us.woniu.com/passport/register. When creating an account, enter the Captcha using lowercase letters only, as uppercase letters will not be recognized.
- The installation files (setup.exe, CABs and MD5) can be deleted.
Profile Information[]
After creating an account at https://member.us.woniu.com/, users gain access to a Profile section where they can optionally enter personal details such as their name, address, and contact information. However, Snail Games USA does not require this information for account use or gameplay.
For privacy and security reasons, it is strongly advised not to enter any personal information into this section. If someone gains access to a player's account credentials, they can easily view all saved profile information without additional verification.
Troubleshooting[]
The official website is unsecure[]
The official website http://www.ageofwushu.com uses the HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS, which may trigger a security warning in most modern web browsers. This warning appears because the connection is not encrypted.
Despite the warning, the site is still safe to visit for the purpose of downloading the game client. It does not contain any login or registration forms, and no personal information is transmitted through the site. Account registration and top-up services are handled on a separate website that uses HTTPS encryption, ensuring secure transmission of user data and payment information.
Snail Support has not responded to inquiries regarding the lack of HTTPS on the download site, suggesting that they do not consider it a priority to update. Players should proceed with caution, but there is currently no indication that the site is unsafe for its intended use.
The official website is down[]
The official website http://www.ageofwushu.com may occasionally become temporarily unavailable, resulting in a 404 Error. When this occurs, the installation files cannot be downloaded.
This is a known issue that occurs from time to time. In such cases, users are advised to check back later, as the page typically becomes accessible again after a short period.
Installation error: CAB file damaged[]
There are two possible reasons for this error:
- One or more of the CAB files are missing. Please verify that all the necessary CAB files are present and in the same folder as setup.exe before running the setup file.
- One or more of the CAB files failed to download correctly. You can use the MD5 file to check for corruptions. Simply drag-and-drop all the CAB files into the MD5 program window to verify them. If any corruptions are detected, delete the corrupted CAB files and re-download them from the website. For better reliability, downloading the CAB files one at a time may help prevent errors.
Failing to apply patch[]
There are a few possible reasons why the client might fail to download a patch:
- Insufficient Disk Space: Ensure your system has enough free space to accommodate the patch download.
- Corrupted CAB Files: One or more of your CAB files may be corrupted. To resolve this, uninstall everything, then redownload the CAB files individually.
- Non-ASCII Characters in File Paths: Check that the folder path for the installation destination contain only ASCII characters. Avoid using non-ASCII characters, such as letters with umlauts (e.g., ä, ö, ü) or accents, as these can cause errors during installation.
Cannot connect to the server[]
This issue may be caused by your firewall blocking access. To resolve it, ensure that fxupdate.exe, fxlaunch.exe and fxgame.exe are allowed through your firewall, then try reconnecting.
Cannot connect to the server due to maintenance[]
Scheduled server maintenance typically occurs on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, server time. If you encounter this error on any other day, it's likely a false alarm.
This error can occur if the launcher attempts to connect to the server too quickly, especially on systems with high-speed performance or in regions with higher latency (ping). The launcher interprets the lack of an immediate response as server maintenance. Solutions:
- Close the launcher completely and reopen it. This simple step can often resolve the issue.
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection. High latency can contribute to this issue.
- If you're using Wi-Fi, consider switching to a wired connection to reduce potential interference.
