School Spying is a PvP-focused activity in which players infiltrate Great Schools to gather Intelligence while avoiding detection. Players participating in School Patrol can attack exposed spies, preventing them from completing the mission. School Spying can be completed a maximum of 5 times per day.

Players can accept the weekly Fight of Intelligence quest to earn greater rewards from the activity.

Requirements[]

How to Participate[]

To participate, the player must first enter the scene of any Great School other than their own. If the player has accepted the Fight of Intelligence quest, they can use a Headmaster's Spy Mission Token at their school's Headmaster NPC to teleport to any Great School.

To activate School Spying mission, the player can either talk to a Spy Connector NPC (location varies depending on scene), or simply click Join in the School Spy interface (hotkey N → School → School Spy → Join).

After joining the activity, the player will be teleported to a random location around the target school.

Collecting Intelligence[]

SpyNPC

Spy NPC.

To complete the mission, the player must collect between 1 and 10 Intelligence. The amount of Intelligence collected will directly influence the reward received. Intelligence can be collected by talking with one of the three Spy NPCs roaming the school (+1 Intelligence per NPC) or by using one of the three temporary skills available to spies.

Scout

Scouting Disciple.

The skills can only be used on Scouting Disciples (sometimes called Intelligence Disciples). Skills have a chance of failing when used. The third skill costs an item to use (Skill Like a Shadow Pill from Spying Item Store).

Skill CD Success Failure
Skilled Swordsman
60s +1 Information Exposure Value +20
Attack From Behind
180s +3 Information Exposure Value +100
Paralyzed for 30s
Flying Locust Asking the Way
120s +3 Information Exposure Value +50

As an alternative method of gathering Intelligence, players can use the Infiltrate and Investigate item to instantly gain 5 Intelligence, without the need for a target.

Exposure Value[]

Exposed Spy and Hostile NPC

A hostile NPC and an exposed spy.

Failing while using the skills will increase the player's Exposure Value. Online players participating in School Patrol can also increase Exposure Value by 20 if they suspect the player of being a spy.

When the Exposure Value reaches 100, the player is flagged as a spy, indicated by a bright orange icon. Patrolling Disciple NPCs will turn hostile, and the spy will enter open-PvP mode with School Patrol players.

If a School Patrol player kills the spy, the spy will lose all collected Information, their task will fail, and the School Patrol will receive rewards. However, dying to NPCs or by suicide will not result in loss of Information or mission failure.

Returning to School[]

Once the player has collected the Intelligence, they must return to their school and talk to Information Officer NPC (marked as Secret Inquiries on the map) to complete the quest. The player can return by using the School Teleport Point (hotkey T), walking, or taking the Official Stagecoach. If the player has set their respawn point at the school's Herbal Hall, they also have the option to return by either falling off a cliff or using Break Meridians.

Rewards[]

To claim the rewards, the players must have 2 open slots in their Goods inventory section.

Disciples of a Reclusive Faction will receive their affiliated Great School's Honor Certificates. Disciples of a Faction will receive Reward the Righteous and Punish the Evil Order instead of Honor Certificates.
